Always Alert

After a long day of work and training Jupiter, Atticus decided it was time to head home. Jup was his personal dog, a beautiful young black and tan Doberman Pinscher stud. He'd gotten him as a gift from Rien, his best friend (not to mention boss.) Atticus yawned as he unlocked the door, swinging it open and letting the dog walk in. He did his usual round of checking the house, making sure that everything was in its place. After making certain that nothing odd was going on, Jupiter picked up his favorite ball and happily padded back to Atticus, who had already hung up his coat and was now flopped back in his recliner chair with a cold beer in his hand.

Atticus smiled and took the ball, tossing it across the room for his companion to chase down with glee. This went on for a while, until the dog noticed Atticus was nearly finished with his drink.

Jupiter sat in front of his beloved handler, his height blocking part of the TV.

"Jupiter, come on," spoke the man, moving his head around and trying to see the end of his show. After a moment, he gave in and looked at him, who gave him the most adorable look possible from such a bad-ass looking dog.

"Ohhh, fine, then," he said, tilting his beer slightly and letting the dog take the last little sip.

"Just don't tell anyone, alright, bud?" He chuckled lightly, giving the Dobie a pat on the head. Reaching up and turning the TV off, Atticus yawned again.

"Time for bed, Jup." At that, his dog jumped up and bounded over to his bed. The man smiled again, wondering how his dog still had energy, and walked over to pet him one more time. Jupiter gave him a lick on the hand, just like every other night. Atticus walked over to the door, and turned to his dog before turning off the light. Jupiter simply lay on his bed, head of and ears perked. Always alert.

"Good night, Jupiter."

Also, this new style is pretty fun. Not gonna be used in every piece I do, but I quite like it anyhow.

Would you believe I didnt have a reference photo for this pose? Only thing i referenced was a quick look at doberman profiles for the head, but other than that it is totally from my brain. Inspired by how I noticed my grandmas dobie lying down on her bed the other night.
